Announcement: First event of the new season!

The Clonmel Theatre Guild is delighted to announce its first event of the 2023/24 season.

We are very excited to announce that we will be getting involved with Culture Night on 22nd Sept and have commissioned an original piece to be performed on the night.

What’s it about?

In this new comedy, an out-of-work and down-in-love furniture removals guy is offered a unique task – to transport a divine cow to the other end of the country in time for a wedding ceremony. What he doesn’t bank on is finding a stowaway along with his cargo: a young woman trying to flee an arranged marriage. Cue countryside chases, uncomfortable cups of Chai with Uncles and a bunch of rather sinister low-lives who have other ideas for this holy heifer. Family, love, acceptance and self-realisation all take centre-stage in this most unlikely of capers.

Created specifically for Culture Night 2023 via collaboration between the Clonmel Theatre Guild and members of the Indian community, this original script is written by Paul Sheehan.

It will be performed as a rehearsed reading by Irish and Indian actors, with the support of the Clonmel Theatre Guild, and will bring together members of both communities in the telling of a story that will combine theatre, music and dance.
