AGM & 2014/15 Committee

The Annual General Meeting of the Clonmel Theatre Guild was held on Thursday 5th June 2014 in Moran’s pub. Thanks to Frank for his hospitality!

There was an impressive turn out and, as you’d expect from a group of performers, a lot of talking to be done! The achievements of the last year were spoken of in glowing terms by the outgoing Chairperson, Esther Byrne, who was delighted that three new directors and several new actors were introduced to the Guild. All our productions were very well received by the audiences who came to Raheen House.

Unfortunately a recent planned production had to be cancelled, much to the disappointment of all involved, but everyone agreed that setbacks like this happen from time to time, and valuable lessons can often be learned.

The treasurer’s and Artistic Director’s reports showed the Guild to be in sound health, both gave good reports of the previous season and looked forward to the year ahead.

A lot of members were interested in serving as officers and members on the Guild’s Executive Committee for the coming year, and several positions were the subject of elections (held by secret ballot, of course!). All elections passed without a hitch, and the officers & committee for 2014/15 are as follows:

President – Michael Hennessy
Chairperson – Carol Acheson
Artistic Director – Patricia Harte
Secretary – Pamela O’Riordan
Treasurer – Jim Malone
PRO – Suzanne Dunne & Adrienne Small

Executive Committee Members : – Amanda Kirwan, Tom Callery & Edmond Ryan

The outgoing Artistic Director, Mick Hennessy, was unanimously elected as the Guild’s Honorary President for the year, and his work was complimented in glowing terms by the incoming Artistic Director.

We have an enthusiastic and motivated committee for the coming year and are already making plans for next year’s programme. We recommend that everyone keep an eye on our Facebook page, our Twitter feed and our website for information and breaking news about the exciting plans for the coming season.

The Guild is also looking forward to being part of Festival Cluain Meala this coming August, we have a treat in store that you won’t want to miss!
